Ekyam 2024, 4 October
About 200 students from Faculty of Hospitality Management & Catering Technology attended and participated in Ekyam 2024. It was a joint celebration of Ganesha festival, Onam and ethnic day! The event started off at 12 noon seeking the blessings of Lord Ganesha by performing a pooja, Pookalam, followed by Sadya Oota, all prepared and served by the students of Faculty of Hospitality Management & Catering Technology. The event then proceeded to various cultural performances by students of all batches and then the game of Tug of War. The event ended with some fun music and dances. Visarjan of Lord Ganesha was performed at the end of the event. It was overall a divine, blessed and fun event.

Description of the Event: Xenia is an intercollegiate festival that features academic, technical and cultural events. The event typically features a blend of competitions, culinary showcases, and industry-oriented presentations, aimed at enhancing practical learning experiences.

FDP on Financial Literacy and Planning for Happy Retirement
The sessions will aim to help participants understand the taxation system of India, gain insights on smart and intelligent investments, and explore both short-term and long-term investment options. Participants will also learn about the ITR filing process, as well as the differences between low-risk and high-risk level investments. Additionally, the sessions will cover employee benefits, employee compensation, and compliances.
Fresher’s Day Celebration, 30 Aug 2024
Type of the Event: Fresher’s Day Celebration
Date and Time: 30th August 2024, 3pm – 6pm
Description of the Event: 60 students from Batch 2024-28 attended the fresher’s party arranged for them. The theme of the event was decided to be Disney – The world of Magic. Students from Batch 2024 dressed up as various characters from the World of Disney. We conducted several competitions like Talent show, Ramp walk, Air crash, etc and had events like Standup Comedy and a dance performance by the seniors. Mr. Fresher and Ms. Fresher were decided based on these competitions.The event was organised by members of Hospitality Club from the Batch of 2021 and 2022 with the help of faculty co ordinators. Food was provided for all the Freshers and faculty present. Minimal decor and photo booth based on Disney theme were made. The event was held in Dwarka Hall in MSRUAS. It was overall a successful event
FDP on Case Study Teaching and Writing
This FDP will be tailored to meet the needs of academicians, researchers, and professionals seeking to enhance their understanding of this invaluable resource. The objectives of the FDP will be to gain valuable insights into the writing pattern and structure of teaching cases. Participants will learn how to use teaching cases effectively in research and educational endeavors. They will discover the art of crafting accompanying teaching notes to enhance the learning experience. The FDP will also provide an understanding of the process of getting teaching cases published in reputed books or journals. Additionally, interactive discussions and hands-on activities will be organized, designed to reinforce learning.
Terrariums and Vivarium Showcase, 8th May 2024
As part of the curriculum, the Semester VIII students pursuing Housekeeping Entrepreneurship of BHM, FHMCT will conduct an entrepreneurial venture. There will be 16 students in total. They will create a proposal and get it approved by the course leader. Funds will be raised to start the venture, and the material required will be procured. The students will plan a sales and marketing strategy, create flyers, and visit other faculties to promote the business and take pre-orders. Emails and reminders will also be sent. They will use social media to advertise. The park area next to the driveway will be used to sell the products. The chosen products will be terrariums and vivariums. Once the venture is completed, the area will be cleared. The students will assemble to discuss whether the venture was successful as per the plans, tally the money spent and received, and distribute the small profit they made amongst the investors. The event will be well planned, and the students will gain valuable insights into the pros and cons of starting and running a business venture.

Ganesha Festival, 17 Oct 2023
On 17th of October 2023, The Hospitality Club had a felicitation program for the members of the club, the day started off with the blessings of Lord Ganesha around 10:30 am in the presence of all the FHMCT staff and students. After the pooja, the club staff coordinators felicitated the students for presidents, vice presidents, department heads, deputy heads, house captains, and vice captains. By 12 noon the students were prepped for the inter-house games hosted by the cultural department. The various competitions were, Tug of war, break the matka, pani puri eating competition. The participants from the four houses of FHMCT – Electra, Hydra, Sirius, and Pandora took part in all the games actively and the audience encouraged them to winning too. The production team of FHMCT had cooked an authentic Karnataka cuisine lunch for all the staff, non-staff, and students. It was a successful event that took place with more than 250 students’ encouragement, enthusiasm, and active participation.
Freshers Day 2023 , 16 Sept 2023
Freshers Day was planned and celebrated to extend a hearty welcome to the first semester BVoC students, and enhance the feeling of companionship. They had events like ramp walk, jenga were organised.
Eutopia 22-23 Sept, 2023
The Faculty of Hospitality Management and Catering Technology will organize Eutopia 2024, an Open House at FHMCT, RUAS, on 22nd and 23rd September 2024. The event will be an exciting amalgamation of an exhibition and entertainment, running from 10 am to 6 pm.
School students and teachers from Bangalore and nearby areas will be invited to participate in the event, with the aim of increasing awareness about careers and opportunities in Hotel Management.
The program will be organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Bangalore Office.
Several interactive sessions and workshops will be arranged, including mocktail making, cake baking and decoration, chocolate making, pasta and sushi preparation, floral decoration, bread making, and more. Competitions and quizzes will also be organized on the theme of responsible tourism.
Entertainment and food stalls will be set up by the students of FHMCT for all the visitors.
World Tourism Day 2023 , 22-23 Sept
As a prelude to the celebration of World Tourism Day was conducted to promote awareness on ‘Responsible Tourist practices’ and ‘Green Investment in Tourism’. A quiz on ‘Know your World’ and an extempore on ‘Green Investment in tourism’ was conducted by the 3rd and 4th year students of BHM, FHMCT. Around 400 students participated, certificates and prizes were distributed to around 70 students.

• To promote Responsible Practices by Tourists
• To create awareness on Green Investment in Tourism
Oral Health Awareness Camp, 15th September 2023
The event was organized by the Faculty of Dental Sciences & and Faculty of Hospitality Management & Catering Technology on Oral Health Awareness for the FHMCT students.
The resource persons were:
Faculty members from the Departments of Dental Sciences – Dr.Greeshama C and team members had explained to the students about the following:
1. Various aspects related to oral health.
2. The new generation and their addiction to different products.
3. How women undergo different changes in life and the effect of it on their physical health.
Culinary Workshop, 18th Aug 2023
FHMCT will be organizing a workshop in which celebrity chef Saby will conduct an insightful session. The theme will be ‘Red Gold Tomatoes,’ and it will be tailored for students specializing in World Cuisines. The workshop will take place on August 18, 2024, from 1 pm to 6 pm.
During the event, Chef Saby will deliver a comprehensive lecture, providing valuable information about different types of tomatoes, their processing methods, and various culinary applications. The students will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on practice, where they will learn to prepare, present, and creatively style Italian dishes incorporating ‘Red Gold Tomatoes.’
Overall, the workshop will be a success and an enriching experience, allowing the students to learn from Chef Saby’s expertise and gain practical skills in culinary arts.

At FHMCT students believe in the essence of diversity and the beauty it brings to our lives. Keeping this in mind, the Hospitality Club organised Ethnic Day Celebration ‘Roots & Routes’ on 13th March 2023, Monday. Students used this perfect opportunity to dress up and display the beauty of our culture.
The club organized many inter-house competitions like lagori, hop skotch, tug of war etc.

Description of the Event:
FHMCT Faculty and students organised Open Day to showcase the activities and skills to School children and other potential candidates to get them inspired to take up the course at FHMCT.
Students were demonstrating everything form flower arrangements to cooking. The process of baking , chocolate making, wine making etc were demonstrated. Many food stalls were put up by the students showcasing their talent.
The students entertained the audience with dance and singing performances.
Complimentary food and beverages were served to all visitors. There were about 500 plus visitors. The show went on till 6.30 pm, had started ta 9 am in the morning.
The Faculty were also fully involved in motivating the students in the planning and execution of the entire event
Smart Food Culinary Symposium on Millets
Smart Food Culinary Symposium -2023 organised by the Faculty of Hospitality Management and Catering Technology, Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences in association with Karnataka State Department of Agriculture , Government of Karnataka . The symposium chaired by Shri Shivayogi C. Kalsad, Secretary to Govt. Agriculture Department, GoK. will be followed by a theme lunch which will showcase around 50 traditional and innovative dishes with the different varieties of millets served in a village ambience.

FHMCT has collaborated with Tulleeho Wine and Spirits Academy to conduct the WSET (Level 2) Award in Spirits. Mr Madhu Rajigani gave the participants knowledge of fundamental production methods and principal raw materials used to make the key spirit styles. The participants also explored the key practices and principles of serving spirits and the use of spirits in cocktail. They learned the impact of production methods on styles, characteristics of the principal international spirits and liqueurs and how to describe spirits using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Spirits. The participants also learnt about different kinds of fruit spirits, liqueurs, and classic cocktail recipes and overall operation of a bar in general.
They tasted spirits including different styles of whisky, brandies, pomace liqueur, rum, cognac, tequila, vodka and liqueurs like Cointreau, Triple sec, Absenta and Campari. Finally, they learnt about alcohol safety. A scholarship has been awarded by FHMCT to Chandan N D of Batch 2020
Food Fair- Eat Right, 25th-29th April 2022
Description of the Event:
The Ramaiah Group of Institutions is ensuring that their stakeholders eat safe, healthy and sustainably. FHMCT joined hands with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to transform the Gnanagangothri Campus into an ‘Eat Right Campus’. The food business operators on the campus were trained and evaluated on parameters such as food safety measures and provision of healthy food. The Faculty of Hospitality Management and Catering Technology (FHMCT) of Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) took the initiative to set the ball rolling with an awareness programme on the campus from 25th April 2022 to 29th April 2022.
‘An Eat Right outlet showcased an exciting menu with popular food and beverage delicacies prepared using healthy and sustainable ingredients. Exciting events and competitions based on the theme were conducted and participants were given an opportunity to interact, win awards and receive certificates from FSSAI and Ramaiah University of Applied Science (RUAS). The students also performed flash mob at various points to get the entire occupants of the campus aware about all these events. The final year food and beverage service specialisation students took up the event as an entrepreneurial task and ran the show successfully.

ANTRA- Faculty Fest
6th Annual Convocation 2022
Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences conducted its Sixth Convocation on Monday, 14th March 2022 at Gnangangothri Campus, New BEL Road, Bangalore. Degrees were conferred to Undergraduates, Postgraduates and Research Scholars. Prof. Kuldeep Kumar Raina, Vice Chancellor-RUAS welcomed the gathering, Prof, Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE was the chief guest of the function and delivered the Convocation Address. Dr. M. R. Jayaram, Chancellor of the University presided over the convocation ceremony, gave away the gold medal to Mr. Manjunath Babu and the silver medal to Mr. Nikhil Ranganath who are the toppers of batch 2017, FHMCT. Pro. Abby Mathew, Dean FHMCT conferred Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) degrees to 84 graduands.
World Tourism Day 2021 Celebrations
Faculty of Hospitality Management and Catering Technology (FHMCT) , RUAS in collaboration with the India Tourism Ministry of Tourism, Government of Karnataka, organized the World Tourism day celebrations 2021 at the Seminar Hall, FHMCT on 27th of September 2021. The event started by a welcome address by Dean of FHMCT Prof. Abby Mathew. Following welcome the address, the event was presided over by our Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Kuldeep Raina.

United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Students’ League Challenge
A team of final year students (Batch 2016)- Jakin B, Deven M, Ashish N, Pallab R & Shivani S were shortlisted for the UNWTO- United Nations World Tourism Organisation Students’ League Challenge.
The challenge started in the month of March 2020 and ended in July 2020. The monthly challenge reflected the real tourism issue that the sector is facing; focused on real problems looking for real solutions in areas. The four international level case studies were aligned with theme of SDG –Sustainable Development Goals of 2030 with the emphasis on goals 8, 12 & 14 in which tourism featured. The team was required to submit case study solutions and proposal under the guidance of their faculty representative Dr. Sweety Jamgade every month. The students have proved their critical skills and successfully completed the challenge and secured the top 10th rank in the East Countries colleges list.

Cooking Demonstration
A cooking demonstration was organised by Vijay Karnataka sponsored by Freedom Oil at Uttarahalli Main road Bangalore on 26th April 2019. The faculty member of FHMCT Mr. Sridhar Krishnan along with BHM student Kiran and Harshit demonstrated various healthy preparations such as Sweet potato tikki, Pinwheel samosa, Potato cheese burst and Mango rasmalai.
